With all the gift guides out there, I wanted to create one that would be perfect for web developers, so here we go:

  1. Start by asking them what things they are into.
  2. Buy or create something related to that thing.
  3. Remind yourself that people aren’t defined solely by their occupation, and that “developer” is not equivalent to “grumpy nerd”

In all seriousness, most developers would be just as happy with the gifts you would buy for a “designer,” and very few (if any) of them want to be known as the guy who “types things like the matrix.” Developers have interests and appreciations for a wide variety of things, and getting a person a personal gift doesn’t always mean buying something related to their occupation.
